My Priorities in making Kingborough
the best place to live and raise a family

"Good local government isn't about politics.  It's about making sensible decisions, spending ratepayers' money wisely and delivering the services residents rely on."

Keep rates affordable

  • Fair rate rises that track inflation.

  • A focus on the basics.

  • Reducing council debt.

  • An updated Long Term Financial Plan that guides financial planning over the next decade and informs Council’s annual budget.

“Council needs to proactively advocate on behalf of residents for our fair share of state and federal funding."

“As Mayor, I'll be focused on the things residents talk to me about every day. Maintaining our roads and footpaths, keeping rates affordable, and making sure waste and recycling services meet the needs of our growing community."

Simplify planning processes

  • Deliver more housing by reducing red tape.

  • Improve how council works with residents, builders and developers to get things done.

  • Make planning processes more efficient by exploring how AI tools can help streamline processes, reduce delays and deliver better outcomes for Kingborough.

"My top priority as Mayor will be to make planning simpler, easier and faster. There is a critical shortage of housing in Tasmania and council has a responsibility to help address this.

“Kingborough has a reputation of being incredibly difficult to deal with and residents tell me they have no trust in council when it comes to planning.

Ensure infrastructure keeps pace with growth

  • An economic plan for Kingborough.

  • Partnerships with the private sector.

  • Promote practical transport solutions.

  • Invest in public toilets, parks and outdoor spaces.

  • A focus on local streetscapes.

“Kingborough is one of Tasmania’s fastest growing municipalities. Council needs to be proactive in planning for this future growth.

“We need to ensure Kingborough has the services and infrastructure our growing community needs, while protecting our lifestyle and all the things that make Kingborough such a special place to live.

  • Connect Kingborough's network of tracks and trails.

  • Protect our waterways and beaches.

  • Create more opportunities for young people.

  • Improve community safety.

“Kingborough needs more spaces for our youth. As Mayor, I will advocate for funding to build a PCYC.

“As the former Chair of the Kingborough Community Safety Committee, I’ve seen the value of bringing Council, Tasmania Police and the community together to address local issues and identify practical solutions.

  • Improve how Council works with the Community.

  • Listen well to inform decisions.

  • Improve communication.

  • Create a council culture that is easier to work with.

“At the moment there are large parts of the community who do not feel heard or understood by council. This must change.

Strengthen trust in council

“I will lead a Council that listens to the community to deliver a future shaped by the people who live here. When council understands the vision set by the community, it can excel at delivering it.
